In a startling revelation, it has been disclosed that electricity consumers across the country were charged Rs. 18.86 billion in television fees over the past two years.
This information was shared by the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, in a written response during a session of the National Assembly.
According to the details provided, Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) collected Rs. 16.64 billion from consumers through electricity bills under the head of TV fees during this period.
Similarly, K-Electric, the power utility serving Karachi, charged Rs. 2.21 billion in the same category from electricity consumers.
