Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday met with a delegation from Hengeng Trading Company, led by Chairman Zhang Bin, to discuss Chinese investments in Pakistan.
The Hengeng Trading Company delegation briefed the Prime Minister on their investments in agriculture, livestock, and medicine. They are constructing a modern slaughterhouse in Gwadar with a $50 million investment. This facility is expected to boost Pakistan’s livestock exports to China by up to $30 million annually and create around 1,000 local jobs.
The Hengeng Trading Company is also processing pharmaceutical products in the Gwadar Free Zone for export to China.
The Prime Minister welcomed these investments, emphasizing the importance of the recent business-to-business agreements made during his visit to China.
Shehbaz expressed his government’s desire to learn from China’s agricultural success and directed the Gwadar Port Authority to support Chinese companies and ensure an uninterrupted supply of utilities in the Gwadar Free Zone.
Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister of State for Finance Ali Pervez Malik, and other senior government officials also attended the meeting.
