Pakistan Information Committee has directed the Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to furnish tempered vehicle details given to different departments.
The letter states that the Pakistan Information Commission has issued notice to Chairman FBR with regard to furnishing details of vehicles given by Customs Intelligence on token money to different departments.
Malik Tariq Mahmood had asked for information from Customs Intelligence and investigation under the Information Act, but he was not given details, so he approached the Pakistan Information Commission.
It is important to note that Pakistan Customs and the Excise Department in Islamabad, based on source reports, seized tampered vehicles. Reportedly, officials from both Pakistan Customs and the Excise Department used these vehicles for personal purposes.
Recently, both departments started to give luxury vehicles to powerful officials sitting in almost every department on some token money just to strengthen their relationship.
Sources added that the Excise Department Islamabad also does not share tempered vehicle information with any department, including the Senate of Pakistan.
