The federal government has granted six months’ leave to member customs operations Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Ashhad Jawwad on the same day when Rashid Langrial assumed the charge of the chairman tax office, raising concerns that he was not happy with Chairman FBR appointment.
As per the notification, Ashhad Jawwad, a PCS/BS-21 officer, presently posted as a Member (Customs-Operations), Federal Board of Revenue Islamabad is granted leave in terms of Rule-5 & Rule-6 of the Revised Leave Rules, 1980 with effect from 15.08.2024.
Sources said that there is resentment among the FBR officers for posting a junior DMG officer as Chairman FBR.
Around 25 to 30 officers of Pakistan Customs and Inland Revenue Service are senior to Rashid Langrial, sources added.
The Inland Revenue Association held a meeting on Thursday to discuss the appointment of junior officers as chairman FBR. However, the association did not issue any statement until late at night.
Sources said that massive shuffling is expected in FBR tomorrow or next week as the new chairman will post those officers on important slots that are not only close but also junior to him.
