FBR Collected Rs. 590 Million as Point-of-Sale Fee Last Year
The finance ministry informed the National Assembly on Monday that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) collected Rs. 590 million as Point-of-Sale (PoS) service fee during the last fiscal year. In a written reply submitted to the National Assembly, FBR pointed out that Rs. 1 is charged on each sale invoice collected by tier-1 retailers. FBR said that the fee collected in this regard stood at Rs. 660 million in FY23 while Rs. 240 million was collected in FY22. It was further pointed out that the amount collected as PoS service fee is spent on the welfare of Inland Revenue Service (IRS) officials. The money is also spent on the prize scheme and media campaigns, said FBR. It is pertinent to note that the PoS prize scheme has been suspended for the past many months.
