FBR Ends Tax Officers’ Weekly Holiday to Achieve FY25 Tax Collection Target

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has directed all field formations to take proactive enforcement measures to meet the current fiscal year’s revised revenue target. According to directions issued by FBR to Chief Commissioners Inland Revenue regarding the collection of Duties/Taxes in Fiscal Year 2025. Enforcement measures have to be taken proactively to achieve the targets for the Fiscal Year 2024-25. Thus, the notification communicates that all LTOs, MTOs, CTOs, and RTOs shall observe Saturdays as normal working days until June 30, 2025. It is pertinent to note that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has allowed the Revenue Division to revise downward the annual tax target from Rs. 12,970 billion to Rs. 12,370 billion during the current year. The revenue shortfall of FBR during the first nine months surged to Rs. 700 billion.
