The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has imposed a withholding tax on wedding halls, a step that is likely to make marriage ceremonies more costly.
According to details, a 10 percent withholding tax will be charged by marriage halls to customers who book the venue for a function.
In a statement, Wedding Halls Association President Rana Raees said that customers will now have to pay the 10 percent withholding tax which will be paid to FBR by marriage halls.
He clarified that the 10 percent withholding tax has nothing to do with marriage halls and is something that the FBR has imposed.
He also advised customers to keep in mind FBR’s policy on withholding taxes when booking wedding halls.
