FBR Misses FY25 Tax Collection Target By Almost Rs. 1.5 Trillion
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has failed to achieve its revenue collection target for the current fiscal year 2024-25, facing a historic shortfall. Sources told ProPakistani that based on the original target of Rs. 12,977 billion, the FBR is facing a shortfall of Rs. 1,470 billion. Even after the first revised target of Rs. 12,332 billion, there is a shortfall of Rs. 832 billion. Sources within the FBR indicate that the FBR also failed to meet the second revised target, which was set at Rs. 11,900 billion. This would result in a shortfall of approximately Rs. 400 billion. As of yesterday (when offices closed), the FBR had collected Rs. 11,280 billion. For today alone, the FBR has a target of collecting Rs. 620 billion. Sources suggest that the FBR will likely only be able to collect Rs. 11,500 billion in revenue for the current fiscal year. This indicates that despite two revisions to the tax target, the FBR was unable to achieve its goal.
