Gas Load-Shedding Schedule Announced for Karachi
Gas supply will be suspended in half of Karachi starting Sunday morning for 24 hours, as reported by ARY News. According to a Sui Southern spokesperson, the shutdown, affecting both domestic and industrial consumers, is due to the connection work on the transmission pipeline. The spokesperson mentioned that the affected areas include Surjani Town, Manghopir, Qasba Town, Orangi, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, FB Area, Gulberg, Buffer Zone, Site Industrial Area, Baldia, Ittehad Town, Kemari, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Ahsanabad, Janjal Goth, and the surroundings of the Super Highway. The gas supply will be suspended from 5 am on July 28 and will resume at 5 am on July 29. Consumers are advised to arrange alternative fuel sources during this period. In other news, Mari Petroleum Company recently discovered new gas reserves in Sindh. The company has completed the testing, production, and transmission of an additional 3 million metric standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. This announcement followed the submission of detailed reports to the Pakistan Stock Exchange. Mari Petroleum stated that the natural gas from the Ghazij Gas Field is now being supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL). Additionally, it is important to note that miscreants blew up a 24-inch diameter Sui gas pipeline in Mach, leading to a disruption of gas supply to various areas, including Quetta. The explosion caused a complete suspension of the gas supply.
