The price of gold in Pakistan continued its record-breaking run on Friday as it surged past the Rs. 270,000 per tola milestone.
According to data issued by the Karachi Sarafa Association, the price of gold (24 carats) rose by Rs. 3,500 per tola to Rs. 272,000, while the price of 10 grams was up by Rs. 3,001 to Rs. 233,196.
The price of gold hit a record high of Rs. 268,000 per tola on Monday before easing slightly on Wednesday. Thursday saw gold surge to a new all-time high of Rs. 268,500 per tola. Today’s massive increase means that the price of gold has set the third record this week.
In the international market, gold prices surged to a record high of $2,600 today in a searing rally. Spot gold was up 0.7 percent at $2,604.50 per ounce by 0749 GMT, while the US gold futures were up 0.6 percent to $2,630.00.
