The price of gold in Pakistan posted another big increase on Wednesday as it neared the Rs. 300,000 per tola milestone.
According to data issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold (24 carats) increased by Rs. 2,000 per tola to Rs. 285,400, while the price of 10 grams was up by Rs. 1,714 to Rs. 244,684.
Today’s increase is the seventh straight increase in the price of gold in the local market, on each of the seven occasions gold hit a new high.
In the international market, spot gold was trading at $2,754.25 per ounce as of 0748 GMT, after hitting an all-time high of $2,755.30 earlier in the session.
The price of gold in Pakistan stood at Rs. 220,000 per tola at the end of 2023. It has since increased by Rs. 65,400 per tola or nearly 30 percent.
