After breaching the all-time high mark thrice in the last week, the price of gold in Pakistan soared to a record high of Rs. 268,000 per tola on Monday.
According to data issued by the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold (24 carats) rose by Rs. 1,700 per tola to Rs. 268,000, while the price of 10 grams climbed by Rs. 1,458 to Rs. 229,767.
Last week, the price of gold rose to an all-time high of Rs. 264,000 per tola on September 11. However, the record didn’t stand long as the precious metal surged to Rs. 265,900 on September 13 before rising even further to Rs. 266,300 per tola on September 14.
In the international market, gold prices surged to record highs today with spot gold up 0.5 percent to $2,588.29 per ounce as of 0551 GMT, while US gold futures rose 0.2 percent to $2,615.80.
