The federal government has issued a new ad for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), offering a stake between 51-100 percent, with a submission deadline of June 3.
A non-refundable fee of Rs. 1.4 million is required with each application.
This is the second Expression of Interest (EOI) issued by the current government. The privatization package includes all major business units—passenger services, ground handling, cargo, flight training, flight kitchen, and engineering. Key assets of the airline are also part of the offer.
Buyers will be eligible for a sales tax exemption on new aircraft added to the fleet.
The government aims to reposition the airline as a competitive global carrier through this strategic sale.
Privatization Adviser Muhammad Ali earlier confirmed that Pakistan will miss the IMF’s July 2025 deadline. The process is now expected to conclude by December 2025.
