Govt to Finalize PakTok App Upgrades for Overseas Pakistanis Today

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has scheduled a key meeting on May 2, 2025, at the Prime Minister’s Office to seek a comprehensive briefing on the Pak-Emigrant Management Framework (PEMF) and the PakTok mobile application. The meeting aims to streamline digital integration among key stakeholders and review the progress on Phase II of PEMF, focusing on enhanced services for overseas Pakistanis. According to the meeting notice issued by SIFC, technical documentation related to Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) will be presented by the National Information Technology Board (NITB), Bureau of Emigration & Overseas Employment (BE&OE), and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). The council is also expected to finalize amendments in the PakTok app’s design, along with addressing key observations raised by the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF). The PakTok mobile app, developed under the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD), serves as a digital gateway for connecting overseas Pakistanis with government services. It offers a wide range of features, including OPF membership registration, welfare services such as recovery of dues from foreign employers, free transportation of deceased bodies from abroad to home addresses, and financial assistance like scholarships in OPF schools and colleges. One of the app’s most significant offerings is a robust 24/7 complaint management system, enabling Pakistani expatriates and their families to report and resolve issues efficiently. The platform also provides updated information on OPF initiatives, policies, and events, bringing transparency and accessibility to the services that matter most to the diaspora.
