Govt to Review PSDP Spending Under IMF Directions
The Senate Standing Committee on Planning Development and Special Initiatives was informed on Thursday that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has asked Pakistan to review the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) allocations for the current fiscal year (FY25). The committee meeting, chaired by Qurat-Ul-Ain Marri, was informed that the IMF has directed Pakistan not to release funds for unnecessary projects. The federal government will submit a report to the international lender in this regard by December 2024. Secretary Planning Commission informed the committee that the IMF has directed Pakistan to ensure that provincial projects are not entirely funded by the federal government. The committee was also provided a breakdown of the allocations to projects of all four provinces in the FY25 PSDP budget.
