Ignite Selects Top 10 GreenTech Startups for TechHub at COP29
The Ignite National Technology Fund has selected the top 10 GreenTech startups that will showcase their innovations at COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan. These startups were chosen from a pool of 120 applicants, narrowed down to 40 according to established criteria, with the final 10 emerging as standout innovators. Among them, the top three will represent Pakistan through the GreenTech Hub Initiative, led by the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination and powered by Ignite under the Ministry of IT & Telecom. Khaity Technologies (Pvt) Ltd., one of the finalists, focuses on AI-driven solutions for Pakistani farmers, enabling them to adopt climate-resilient agriculture practices and enhance food security. Similarly, SAWiE Ecosystem leverages data-driven insights and remote sensing tools, such as Earth Observation and ground-based sensors, to support smallholder farms. By optimizing crop productivity and improving yield, SAWiE helps farmers achieve better returns on investment and promotes sustainable agricultural practices. Another noteworthy startup, Growtech Services, provides climate-smart, agricultural technology solutions designed to increase productivity and reduce environmental impact. In the energy efficiency domain, EcoEdge AI (Pvt) Ltd. specializes in AI-enhanced Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) systems. Through AI and cloud computing, EcoEdge AI optimizes buildings, making them more energy-efficient, autonomous, and eco-friendly, aiming to transform urban energy use. In the electric mobility sector, ezBike is taking strides to convert Pakistan’s 27 million petrol motorcycles to electric, reducing conversion costs by 75%. Their Battery-as-a-Service model offers affordable access to batteries, making the switch to electric vehicles more accessible. VLEKTRA Electric Motorcycles also contributes to sustainable urban mobility with locally manufactured electric motorcycles that integrate eco-conscious engineering and cutting-edge technology. The finalists also include Creeco (Pvt) Ltd., a pioneer in alternative fuels derived from waste materials. Creeco harnesses wastewater, algae, and hydrogen to produce sustainable fuels, such as synfuels and ammonia, while focusing on carbon capture. Another entrant, Electric Energe Pvt Ltd. (Zyp Technologies), offers an electric mobility solution for the mass market by introducing a franchise-based battery swap network and Battery-as-a-Service model, making electric vehicle ownership affordable. Other finalists tackle environmental pollution and water scarcity. Concept Loop Pvt. Ltd. redirects end-of-life plastic waste into high-quality building materials, reducing ocean-bound plastics and promoting a circular economy with their EcoGrete™ plastic aggregate. NanoDrop, another innovative startup, develops nanotechnology-based water filtration membranes to remove contaminants at both molecular and nano levels, even purifying saline water without electricity. This initiative, supported by key institutions including NUST, Pak Launch, Ahya, Sarmayacar, i2i Ventures, and with contributions from Zayn Venture Capital, USAID, and CFA, will showcase Pakistan’s advancements in green technology on a global stage. The selected startups aim to drive sustainable change, reflecting the country’s commitment to climate action and innovation.
