IT Minister Shaza Fatima Thanks Freelancers and Influencers for Promoting Pakistan

The Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, highlighted the significant role of freelancers and influencers in representing the promising future of Pakistan’s digital economy. She emphasized that freelancers are showcasing Pakistan globally as a center of talent, innovation, and creativity. Her remarks came during a meeting with Pakistani freelancers and influencers on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by IT Secretary Zarar Hashim Khan, while President of the Pakistan Freelancers Association, Tufail Ahmed Khan, and Chairman Ibrahim Amin joined via video link. Shaza Fatima reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving freelancers’ issues and supporting the growth of the IT and telecommunication industry. She emphasized equipping youth, freelancers, students, and professionals with digital skills, tools, and techniques to help them seize opportunities in local and international online markets. Highlighting initiatives like the DigiSkills program, the minister stated that the government is focused on equipping the youth with the latest digital skills to enhance their employability in the global market. She added that significant efforts are underway to address connectivity challenges through the National Fiberization Plan, which aims to improve the quality and availability of telecom services across the country. Shaza Fatima underscored the importance of responsible internet use and the government’s focus on fostering digitalization in Pakistan. She noted with optimism the increasing trend of IT exports from the country, which reflects the growing potential of the sector. Improved connectivity and better access to telecom services are critical components of this vision, she added. The session also included a question-and-answer segment where freelancers shared their perspectives and concerns.
