A laborer in Jhelum was astonished to receive an electricity bill of over Rs. 1,800,000 for July. The resident of Dina Ladhar was taken aback by the unexpectedly high bill for just one month.
The worker, who previously borrowed money to pay a bill of Rs. 56,000, expressed disbelief at the new bill of Rs. 1.8 million. “I make Rs. 1,000 a day—how am I supposed to cover Rs. 1.8 million?” he questioned.
The spokesperson for the power supply company said they are reaching out to the affected person to review the bill. They said that an investigation will be conducted to verify the billing details and adjust the amount if any errors are discovered.
Previously, a 65-year-old woman named Razia Bibi, who was suffering from a hernia, took her own life after spending the money she had saved for her surgery on her electricity bill.
However, when confronted with an unexpected electricity bill of Rs. 10,000, she was forced to use her savings for her medical treatment to cover the payment.
