During a meeting with Akhuwat Founder and Chairman Dr. Amjad Saqib on Sunday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz outlined her government’s welfare programs.
She emphasized the commitment to making affordable housing accessible to low-income families across the province. “We will fulfill the dream of low-income people having their own home,” she said.
The low-cost housing program, which has begun in select districts of Punjab, is set to expand each year. Maryam Nawaz stated that the ‘Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar’ program would be among Pakistan’s largest and most cost-effective residential initiatives.
She added that the project’s primary goal is to provide housing for economically disadvantaged groups.
Maryam outlined that the project includes loans of up to Rs. 15 lakh for residential plots of 10 marlas in rural areas and 5 marlas in urban areas, with a monthly repayment of approximately Rs. 14,000.
Furthermore, the government plans to construct four-story flats on state land in major cities, which will be available through a balloting system with easy installment options. Moreover, 3-5 marla houses will be built in private housing schemes, with the government offering a Rs. 10 lakh subsidy for each house and allowing repayment over five years.
