The Department of Local Government in Peshawar has identified 104 illegal and unregistered housing schemes and announced plans to take firm action against them.
According to official documents, numerous complaints led to the uncovering of these unauthorized housing projects across various tehsils.
The highest number of violations was reported in Tehsil Shah Alam, where authorities found 32 illegal housing schemes. Further investigations revealed that 26 unregistered housing projects were operating in Chamkani, while 14 were identified in City Tehsil.
In Tehsil Mathra, 16 illegal schemes were discovered, 12 in Pushtakhara, and four in Badh.
In response to these findings, the Department of Local Government has notified all relevant Tehsil Municipal Administrations (TMAs) about the illegal schemes. The TMAs have been instructed to take appropriate actions to address the violations.
These actions may include halting construction, issuing fines, or taking legal measures against those responsible for developing these unregistered housing societies.
The authorities have also urged the public to exercise caution and verify the legal status of housing schemes before investing, as buying property in unauthorized projects can lead to legal complications and financial loss.
