Pakistan’s Trade Deficit Falls by Over 30% in October 2024 
Pakistan’s trade deficit stood at $1.498 billion in October 2024, down 31 percent compared to deficit of $2.174 billion reported in October 2023, according to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) on Friday. On a month-on-month basis, the trade deficit was down by 18 percent compared to the deficit of $1.820 billion reported in September 2024.  Exports during October 2024 stood at $2.975, up 11 percent year-on-year and 5 percent month-on-month. While imports in October 2024 stood at $4.473 billion, down by 8 percent year-on-year and 4 percent month-on-month.  The trade deficit during the first four months of the current fiscal year (4MFY25) stood at $6.974 billion, down 6 percent over deficit of $7.387 billion in 4MFY25.  During 4MFY25, imports rose 13 percent over 4MFY24 and stood at $10.880 billion. On the other hand imports depicted an increase of 5 percent in 4MFY25 and stood at $17.854.
