Petroleum Sales in Pakistan Hit Highest Level in Over 2 Years
Pakistan recorded OMC sales of 1.58 million tons up by 15 percent year-on-year (YoY) in November 2024. According to Topline Securities, this is the highest sales volume recorded in 25 months. High-speed diesel (HSD) sales hit a 30-month high due to reduced YoY prices, supported by macro stabilization over time and a decline in smuggling. The offtake of MS petrol increased by 17 percent YoY in November 2024, settling at 0.6 million tons. EX-FO sales were up 19 percent YoY to 1.54 million tons in November 2024; 5MFY25 EX-FO sales clocked in at 6.45 million tons, up 8 percent YoY. On an MoM basis, petroleum sales increased by 6 percent during November 2024. The sales of MS showed no change MoM. Likewise, the dispatches of EX-FO increased by 7 percent MoM in November 2024. Meanwhile, HSD offtake increased by 15 percent MoM. During 5MFY25, total sales of petroleum products increased by 5 percent YoY to 6.75 million tons vis-à-vis 6.45 million tons in SPLY. The sales of PSO were up 12 percent YoY basis at 0.79 million tons in November 2024. PSO’s offtake of MS witnessed a growth of 15 percent, while FO dispatches declined by 83 percent YoY. The dispatches of SHEL climbed up by 12 percent YoY during November 2024. The offtake of APL and HASCOL improved by 8 percent and 6 percent YoY, respectively. During 5MFY25, petroleum sales of APL and PSO plummeted by 10 percent and 4 percent YoY. Meanwhile, sales for SHEL and HASCOL increased by 6 percent and 15 percent YoY, respectively.
