The National Assembly Standing Committee on Privatization was informed on Tuesday that bidding for the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to go ahead on October 1.
The announcement was made by the chairman of the committee lawmaker Farooq Sattar while chairing the committee’s meeting.
The lawmaker said that six companies will take part in the bidding process for the national flag carrier and added that PIA will be the first state-owned company to be privatized under the current framework.
The committee chairman assured that the rights of the airline’s employees will remain the top priority of the committee.
Privatization Commission officials informed the committee that the airline’s name would not be changed after privatization.
