Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited (PSX: PIBTL) Wednesday that its infrastructure has suffered significant damage due to a fire incident at the terminal during the discharge of coal cargo.
According to Mettis Global, PIBTL informed its customers today that the fire occurred due to circumstances beyond its reasonable control, causing significant damage to a portion of the terminal and partially affecting its ability to fulfill its obligations.
It further said that inquiries are being conducted by the appointed surveyors to ascertain the actual cause of the fire.
However, the firm emphasized that this unfortunate incident occurred without any fault on its part, despite its best efforts to ensure safety at the terminal.
“In light of the foregoing, PIBTL’s ability to discharge cargo at the Terminal on behalf of its customers has been temporarily affected and may unfortunately cause delay in discharging cargo,” the notice said.
According to PIBTL, the incident occurred at the terminal on 19-11-2024 while a cargo of coal was being discharged.
