The federal government has appointed Rashid Mahmood Langrial, a BS-21 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service, as the new chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
“Rashid Mahmood, a BS-21 officer of Pakistan Administrative Service, presently posted as Secretary, Power Division, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, is transferred and posted as Chairman, Federal Board of Revenue, under Section 10 of the Civil Servants Act, 1973, with immediate effect and until further orders,” reads a notification issued by the Establishment Division on Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, sources had confirmed to ProPakistani that the federal government has decided to appoint Langrial as the new FBR Chairman.
The government was forced to look for a new FBR chairman, as the incumbent Amjed Zubair Tiwana sought retirement six months before reaching the age of superannuation. Tiwana is set to retire on August 15.
