SBP Shares Monetary Policy Committee Meetings Schedule for July-December 2024

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued the schedule of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) for the second half of the calendar year 2024. According to the schedule, the next meeting of the MPC will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, followed by a meeting on Thursday, September 12, 2024, and Monday, November 4, 2024. The fourth and final meeting during the year will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024. Last month, SBP decreased the interest rate by 150 basis points to 20.5 percent. Prior to this, the central bank had kept the key lending rate unchanged for seven consecutive sessions. Before June’s rate cut, the last rate cut was over four years ago on 25 June 2020. It bears mentioning that the Monetary Policy Committee is responsible and fully empowered to decide the monetary policy stance at any point in time.
