According to a report by ARY News on Thursday, the Sindh government has launched a new housing initiative named “Sasti Basti,” aimed at offering affordable housing to disadvantaged residents of the province.
The initiative was unveiled during the 29th Governing Body meeting of the Human Settlement Authority’s annual budget, chaired by Najmi Alam, Advisor to the Chief Minister for Human Settlement Authority, Livestock, and Fisheries.
Key attendees at the meeting included MPA’s Muhammad Yusuf Baloch, and Aruba Rabbani, and senior officials from Hyderabad and Sukkur. The meeting approved the annual budget and reviewed minutes from previous sessions.
Najmi Alam highlighted that the “Sasti Basti” project is aligned with the vision of party chairman Bilawal Bhutto, focusing on constructing homes for the province’s underprivileged population.
Furthermore, the meeting sanctioned the formation of demolition squads to tackle encroachments in slums across Sindh.
Earlier this month, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program, aimed at providing affordable housing to the residents of Punjab. ARY News also reported an update on this initiative.
Dr. Amjad Saqib, founder and chairman of Akhuwat Foundation, recently met with CM Maryam Nawaz and lauded her efforts in reducing electricity bills and launching the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” program. Maryam Nawaz praised Akhuwat’s social initiatives under Dr. Amjad Saqib’s leadership and confirmed that the low-cost housing initiative is already underway in Punjab. She emphasized plans to expand the program annually to assist low-income individuals in achieving their homeownership dreams.
