Sugar Prices Soar to as High as Rs. 180 Per KG in Some Cities
Despite government efforts and announcements, sugar prices in Pakistan continue to soar, reaching up to Rs. 180 per kilogram. This comes just two days after the Deputy Prime Minister announced a fixed retail price of Rs. 164 per kilogram. The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) has released new figures indicating that the maximum price of sugar in the country is Rs. 180 per kilogram. The average price of sugar is Rs. 170.41 per kilogram. Residents of Karachi, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar are facing the highest sugar prices of Rs. 180 per kg. The average price of sugar has decreased slightly by Rs. 1.49 per kilogram in the past week. The current average price is Rs. 170.41 per kilogram, down from Rs. 171.90 per kilogram last week. These figures highlight the ongoing challenge of controlling sugar prices in country, despite government interventions.
