Due to a shortage of gas supplies in its system, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a 24-hour gas closure for all industries and CNG stations in Sindh. The company, in a statement issued on Friday, cited reduced gas availability and low pressure in its pipelines as the cause.
The shutdown will begin at 8 a.m. on Sunday, September 22, and last until 8 a.m. on Monday, September 23. This will impact all industries, including their power generation units, and CNG stations operating on RLNG.
SSGC stated that the move is in line with clause #14 of the Gas Supply Agreement (GSA) for Industrial Customers, which has been approved by OGRA and allowed by the ECC. The decision is aimed at managing the gas load by the sectoral priority order.
The company also warned that strict action will be taken against any industry violating the gas closure. Industries found operating during the shutdown could face disconnection of gas supplies for a minimum of seven days.
The measure comes as the SSGC grapples with a depleted line pack due to supply constraints, leading to low pressure in its system.
