Third Highest-Ever Single-Day Gain Propels PSX Past 114,000 Milestone 

The benchmark KSE-100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) gained 3,370.63 points on Thursday to close at an all-time high of 114,180.50 points, up 2.95 percent over the previous closing.   The over 3,300-point increase represents the third highest-ever single-day gain, with the top two also coming during the current year. The previous third highest-ever single-day gain was also posted during the current month on December 5 when the index rose by 3,134.63 points.  In fact, nine out of the top ten highest single-day gains have been recorded in 2024, according to brokerage house Topline Securities   A total of 1,469,558,531 shares were traded during the day as compared to 1,080,023,483 shares the previous day. The price of shares stood at Rs. 67.278 billion against Rs. 47.139 billion on the last trading day.    A total of 463 companies transacted their shares in the stock market today with 298 of them recording gains and 132 sustaining losses, whereas the share price of 33 companies remained unchanged.
