Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will deliberate on a salary increment for employees today (Friday) during an HR Committee meeting in Karachi.
If approved, the proposal will be forwarded to the Board of Directors. PIA employees have not received a raise since 2015, reported a national daily.
Separately, efforts to privatize the loss-making airline remain stalled after a single Rs. 10 billion bid was rejected.
Privatization Minister Aleem Khan recently blamed the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for the failure after it refused to waive GST on new aircraft purchases.
The airline’s privatization process began in November 2023, with losses at Rs. 830 billion. The matter now awaits cabinet review.
