The Sensitive Price Index (SPI) based inflation for the week ended October 31, 2024, increased by 0.10 percent says Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
The year-on-year trend depicts an increase of 14.45 percent mainly due to increase in the prices of gas charges for q1 (570 percent), pulse gram (83.11 percent), pulse moong (39.09 percent), powdered milk (25.57 percent), beef (23.53 percent), onions (17.95 percent), garlic (17.55 percent), shirting (17.02 percent), cooked daal (15.14 percent), mutton (13.68 percent).
On the other hand a decrease was observed in the prices of wheat flour (31.76 percent), electricity charges for q1 (20.32 percent), chilies powder (20 percent), tomatoes (19.37 percent), diesel (17.05 percent), petrol (12.77 percent), rice basmati broken (8.09 percent), cooking oil 5 litre (7.45 percent), sugar (7.16 percent), bread (5.55 percent), eggs (3.93 percent) and washing soap (0.32 percent).
During the week, out of 51 items, prices of 12 (23.53 percent) items increased, 12 (23.53 percent) items decreased, and 27 (52.94 percent) items remained stable.
On a week-on-week basis, increase was observed in the prices of Eggs (3.40 percent), Garlic (2.95 percent), LPG (1.92 percent), Mustard Oil (1.49 percent), Pulse Moong (1.27 percent), Firewood (1.09 percent), Vegetable Ghee 1Kg (1.08 percent), Vegetable Ghee 2.5Kg (0.50 percent), Potatoes (0.30 percent) and Curd (0.20 percent).
